Summary: Network Security Situational Awareness (NSSA) for IoT systems purposes for providing a holistic and macro-level perspective of perception, analyzing and prediction of the security landscape of the target system. By collecting and analyzing data across different system components, NSSA offers deep insights into unusual activities, and assesses their impacts on the system as a whole. Further, by aggregating analysis and assessment data on the system's security states over time, this approach offers not only a snapshot of the current security posture but also a historical perspective. This comprehensive view allows for early warnings and trend predictions if there are sudden unusual changes in the overall security analysis, thereby boosting the resilience and reliability of IoT systems. In the context of IoT systems, NSSA is particularly critical due to the heterogeneous and dynamic nature of IoT components and their widespread connectivity, which create a complex and dynamic security landscape. By implementing NSSA, organizations can achieve a macro-level and holistic view of their IoT system's security posture. This approach not only helps in securing the IoT systems against current threats but also in adapting to future security challenges.
