Summary: In the Internet era and the subsequent intelligent era, the proportion of software products in the carbon emissions of the whole society will gradually increase, and the demand for carbon footprint accounting of software products will also grow rapidly. The main purpose of this Recommendation is to provide general principles for guiding relevant parties to calculate the carbon footprint of software products and improve the transparency and consistency of carbon footprint evaluation of software products. The Recommendation is supposed to help stakeholders to comprehensively understand their carbon emissions and to help identify key emission reduction strategies during the overall life cycle of software products. Note: Definition of software products should be clarified.
