Work item: Q.DMSA
Subject/title: Principles for detection and mitigation of signalling attacks in security signalling gateways
Status: Under study
Approval process: AAP
Type of work item: Recommendation
Version: New
Equivalent number: -
Timing: 2024-10 (Medium priority)
Liaison: SG17
Supporting members: Vaulto (Israel), China Telecom
Summary: This recommendation specifies principles for detecting complex signalling attacks to enhance signaling security. To enable the SSGW to defend against both classical signalling attacks (single request attacks) and to defend against stateful attacks (which involve more than one request) and to defend against complex attacks which span several signalling protocols across multiple generations of telecom networks. When the new principles are implemented the SSGW will perform signalling attack detection and protection in telecom communication networks, including inter-network, intra-network.
