Summary: Fibre networks can be extended to the curb, building or home, but it remains a costly exercise in many parts of the world. Consequently, hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) networks or combination of fibre and copper pairs using DOCSIS, ADSL and VDSL are considered more viable solution for deployment of multichannel digital television services in those countries. Contributions on proposed hybrid cable network architecture are invited, and submitted use cases will be added to ITU-T J. Supplement 11.
