This Recommendation gives guidance on immunity test methods for telecommunication centre equipment such as switching, transmission, radio and power equipment against high altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP). The HEMP immunity test methods for telecommunication equipment are specified in ITU-T Recommendation K.78. However, the operational conditions of EUT during the test and the method to confirm its normality are hardly described at all in that Recommendation. Therefore, this Recommendation specifies operational conditions during the test for each category of equipment. It also describes appropriate performance criteria for HEMP immunity.
