Work item: J.343
Subject/title: Hybrid perceptual/bitstream models for objective video quality measurements
Status: [Carried to next study period]
Approval process: TAP
Type of work item: Recommendation
Version: Rev.
Equivalent number: -
Timing: -
Liaison: VQEG, SG12
Supporting members: Korea (Rep. of), USA, Poland, Rohde Schwarz
Summary: No-reference video quality models are well suited to measure video quality for real-time services like live video telephony and video conferencing systems. Many of these services use a transmission over RTP/UDP, which is often encrypted. In case these video services use a H.264 video encoding Recommendation J.343.1 is very-well suited. Some services use already H.265 encoding of the video, and more are expected in the near future, to benefit from lower bandwidth requirements of H.265 compared to H.264.
