E-health testing and showcasing event, Geneva, 10-12 February 2015

Call for Participation

  • Introduction

Interoperability is a determinant of the efficiency and equitability of e-health's rollout, which is particularly crucial for the most vulnerable communities in developing countries. From industry's perspective, interoperability is a key business strategy in lowering product-development costs and gaining larger global market share.

Building on recently completed ITU-T Recommendations, ITU and Continua are planning to hold an e-health Interop event on 10-12 February 2015, in conjunction with the next meeting of ITU-T Study Group 16 (Multimedia)  in Geneva, 9-20 February 2015. The event will gather key players from the e-health ecosystem not only to discuss interoperability technical issues, but also to inspire future collaboration in using ITU-T Recommendations.

  • Scope of testing

This event will be open to engineers developing e-health solutions based on Recommendation ITU-T H.810 "Interoperability design guidelines for personal health systems" and the associated suite of conformance testing specifications in the ITU-T H.820-850 sub-series of Recommendations, which were contributed by the Continua (now Personal Connected Health Alliance, PCHA). The testing will include interoperability tesing and optionally conformance testing.

The interoperability testing will cover the PAN-LAN-TAN, WAN and HRN interfaces and will include a debriefing session where technical advice on interoperable design for ITU-T H.810 devices will be provided. (For those who would like to learn more about Recommendation ITU-T H.810, a Technical Paper, ITU-T HSTP-H810 "Introduction to the ITU-T H.810 Continua Design Guidelines" is available.)

The optional conformance testing will be conducted by AT4 wireless which is one of Continua's test laboratories. During the event, AT4 wireless will test Bluetooth Smart Agents and Health Record Network (HRN) Senders against Recommendation ITU-T H.810, using ITU-T Test Suite (ITU-T H.821 and ITU-T H.847) as well as Continua's testing tools. All products which passed the test will be certified by AT4 wireless under Continua's Test and Certification program and will be listed on the Continua Product Showcase and the ITU Product Conformity Database. This conformance testing requires Continua membership.

  • Outcome

Anonymized testing results and the experiences gained at this test event will feed into ITU-T Study Group 16 to inform possible refinement of the existing specifications. Results of the discussion will also be shared with the IEEE 11073 Personal Health Devices Working Group.

  • Showcasing (12 February 2015, 10:00-14:00, 1st floor Montbrillant building, ITU)

A product showcase, that is open to public, will be a part of this event. This will be a demonstration of the emerging products of manufacturers participating in the testing event and others who would also like to demonstrate their ITU-T H.810 products. The showcasing will aim to underscore and disseminate information on advanced e-health technologies and ongoing standardization work in ITU-T. The showcasing will be free for both exhibitors and visitors.

  • Fee

The fee for participating in the Interop testing component of the event will be USD 500 per platform per organization (with maximum four (4) participating individuals from the organization). Participation in the optional conformance testing requires another USD 500 per platform per organization. The showcasing will be free for both exhibitors and visitors.
