In 2012, a two-round Selection Committee comprised of world-renowned experts identified 12 finalists out of nearly 400 submissions
, coming from 77 different countries. Once selected, finalists participated in a series of webinars, preparing for ITU Telecom World 2012; onsite at the event in Dubai, and through a dedicated pavilion for showcasing and networking (the InnovatorSpace), the Young Innovators engaged in interactive workshops on business skills, marketing, finance, etc. specifically tailored for them by the competition’s exclusive knowledge partner and ITU Academia member, the American University in Dubai. Under the supervision of mentors and coaches, finalists delivered an investment pitch of their ideas to the World 2012 audience of high level delegates and investors. They also participated in an open debate
with industry leaders and targeted networking events to meet the right delegates.
All finalists won up to CHF 10.000 of seed funding, and are now developing and scaling up their enterprises to be able to attend ITU Telecom World 2013
in Bangkok and report back.
