Second cyberdrill for the Americas region, Lima, Peru, 8-10 September 2014

Lima01.jpg​​​The second cyberdrill for the Americas region was held in Lima, Peru from 8-10 September 2014. This exercise aimed to enhance the communication and incident responses capabilities of participants by creating a platform for cooperation, sharing knowledge and discussion on cyber securities issues. The forum was structured on the one hand around a two day cyberdrill which consisted of simulation exercises based on prepared cyber-attack scenarios and on the other hand a full day workshop to update and enhance the knowledge of participants on latest cybersecurity issues.

Lima03.jpgThe simulation exercise gave an opportunity to all participants to test their skills and knowledge in responding to such cyber-attacks. Organized jointly by the ITU and IMPACT, together with INICTEL UNI (National institute of telecommunications research and training) and with the support of the Transport and Communications Ministry of Peru, the second cyber drill for America region attracted the participation of 9 countries namely Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela with a total of 24 participants for the cyber drill and 95 attendees for the workshop.

Participants expressed their satisfaction in attending this event and stressed on the necessity of creating a working group in the region to organize more events for networking with other national sectors thus bring in aspects such as Critical Information Infrastructure Protection.
