ITU-T A.5 justification information for referenced document IHE ITI-TF-2 (2009) in draft H.810
1. Clear description of the referenced document:
Name: IHE ITI-TF-2 (2009)
Title: IT Infrastructure Technical Framework Volume 2x (ITI TF-2x), Volume 2 "Appendices"; Revision 6.0
2. Status of approval:
Specification approved 2009-08-10.
3. Justification for the specific reference:
The Continua Design Guidelines uses/generates the IHE Technical Framework for use with both its Health Reporting Network (HRN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) interfaces. Continua utilizes this document for its Web Service transactions (specifically SOAP messaging). “Web Services” has become a catch-all phrase describing a wide range of HTTP transactions over a TCP/IP network. A more precise definition of Web Services implies richer infrastructure capabilities with all transactions built using SOAP messages. This reference provides in its Appendix V the guidelines for specifying 1660 the use of SOAP-based Web Services as the messaging infrastructure and transport mechanism for IHE transactions, several of which are used by the Continua Design Guidelines.
4. Current information, if any, about IPR issues:
N/A.
5. Other useful information describing the "Quality" of the document:
The specification is approved and in-force.
6. The degree of stability or maturity of the document:
The specification is approved and in-force. Continua has 6 certifications which have implemented this specification.
7. Relationship with other existing or emerging documents:
Virtually all web services specifications are developed under the auspices of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) or the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS).
