En la Recomendación UIT-T L.68 se describen los requisitos funcionales de los sistemas de mantenimiento de cables de fibra óptica cuando la potencia óptica total que transportan dichos cables es alta. También se abordan los procedimientos de seguridad y las directrices de mantenimiento de la planta de fibra óptica exterior que transporta una potencia óptica total alta.
