I Thought AI Was Only for Tech Experts: A Practical Introduction to Engaging with AI for Women
International Council of Women
Session 318
How AI can support advocacy, research and communications without needing technical expertise
This session responds to a growing and urgent gap in digital capacity building: while artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming how work is conducted across sectors, many women—particularly those working in civil society, policy, and multilateral environments—remain under-supported in engaging with these tools. Women working in civil society and policy spaces on human rights, migration, gender equality, and digital inclusion are increasingly expected to navigate complex information landscapes, communicate effectively, and respond quickly to emerging policy challenges. However, AI is often perceived as technical, inaccessible, or not directly relevant to their daily work. This session aims to address that gap by providing a practical, safe, and accessible introduction to AI for women at the early stages of their journey.
