ITU prepares for World Radiocommunication Conference 2015
Press briefing on 2 April 2015 at 12:30 pm
Geneva, 30 March 2015 – The
second conference preparatory meeting (CPM) for the forthcoming World
Radiocommunication Conference is currently in session in Geneva. Over 1100
delegates from ITU’s 193 Member States and the private sector are examining
preparatory studies on the regulatory, technical, operational and procedural
aspects of the agenda of the
World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-15),
which will take place in Geneva, 2-27 November 2015.
World Radiocommunication Conferences, held every three to
four years, are mandated to review and, where necessary, revise
the
Radio Regulations,
the international treaty governing the use of the radio-frequency spectrum as
well as geostationary-satellite and non-geostationary-satellite orbits. The
agenda is determined by
ITU Council,
which takes into account recommendations made by previous World
Radiocommunication Conferences and which can include issues identified by ITU
Plenipotentiary Conferences.
