The Future Networked Car drives to the Geneva Motor Show
Synergies in ICT and automotive sectors steer future innovations
Geneva, 3 March 2014 – The
‘Future
Networked Car’,
an ITU symposium exploring future innovative technologies, especially
information and communication technologies, will be held 5-6 March 2014 at the
Geneva Motor Show.
A High-Level dialogue on ‘Innovation for the Future Car’ on 5 March,
11:30–13:00 will critique developments with a view to channelling future
innovation. The session will be moderated by former racing driver and Fifth Gear
presenter,
Tiff Needell.
Jean Todt, President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA),
will spearhead the event’s emphasis on motorsport as an incubator of innovation
and technical advances.
Johan de Nysschen, President, Infiniti Motor Company and Jeffrey J. Owens, Chief
Technology Officer and Executive Vice President, Delphi Automotive will lead on
industry perspectives, and Eva Molnar, Director, Transport Division, will
represent the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). T. Russell
Shields will focus on intelligent transport systems.
The new Infiniti Q50 on display at the symposium will lay emphasis on the
networked car.
Technical sessions will examine the driverless car; the potential of ITS to
reduce emissions and boost convenience by connecting vehicles with one another
and roadside infrastructure; security in the context of networked cars; and the
integration of nomadic devices in vehicles.
A special safety-oriented session on 5 March at 09:30
will discuss global road safety goals and the role of industry, government and
public-private partnership in driving this agenda. Panellists include FIA
President Jean Todt; General Victor Kiryanov, Deputy Minister of Internal
Affairs, Russian Federation; Dr Oleg Chestnov, Deputy Director General, World
Health Organization; and Dr Scott C. Ratzan, Vice President, Anheuser-Busch
InBev.
