Accreditation is compulsory.

The Opening Ceremony
will commence at 10 am on 14 October in the Al
Multaqua Hall,
Dubai International Convention and Exhibition
Centre.
All written Press must be seated and visual media in position
by 09:45 am
The Opening Ceremony is expected to include the
following dignitaries:

Prime Minister and Vice President of UAE and
Emir of Dubai
•
Dr Hamadoun I. Touré (Secretary-General, ITU)
•
Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar (Group CEO, Etisalat)
•
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Thani (Chairman, Qtel)
•
Namadi Sambo (Vice President, Nigeria)
Media pools will operate for the Opening Ceremony and VVIP/VIP Tours
To be included in the two media pools, please contact Richard
White at
richard.white@axicom.com. If you do not pre-register for media pools, a
first-come-first-served system will operate due
to limited capacity.
Media pool 1 for TV crew and
photographers at the
Opening Ceremony:
TV crew and photographers will have designated vantage points and
will need to be in position in Al Mulatqua Hall
by 09:45 am. Visual media will be required to
remain in the Hall throughout the Opening
Ceremony and will not be able to join the ribbon
cutting and VVIP / VIP tours.
Media pool 2 for TV crew and
photographers for the ribbon cutting and
VVIP / VIP Tours of the ICT showcase:
The ribbon cutting and VVIP tour led by the Secretary General of
ITU and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid
Al Maktoum will commence at 11 am and include a
tour of the National Pavilions in the Sheik
Rashid Hall. There will be designated vantage
points for photographers for the ribbon cutting
and along the route of the VVIP tour to enable
photo opportunities. As part of this pool, media
will not be able to attend the Opening Ceremony.
Once the VVIP tour has departed the Sheikh
Rashid Hall, TV crew and photographers will
remain in the Hall to cover the VIP tour led by
ITU Deputy Secretary-General.
