                       Category Education
Model training The UN Women AI School introduces participants to cutting-edge Gener-
and fine-tuning ative AI (GenAI) technologies and practical approaches tailored for diverse
user needs. Participants explore tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Notebook
LLM, and Microsoft Copilot, applying them to use cases in research, knowl-
edge production, content creation, advocacy, and campaign design. The
School emphasizes prompt engineering, responsible AI use, and no-code
custom GPT development. Participants learn how to adapt AI solutions to
their workflows—creating policy briefs, donor proposals, knowledge prod-
ucts, and advocacy materials—without requiring advanced technical skills.
The curriculum integrates hands-on learning, real-world case studies (e.g.,
UN Women’s Humanitarian GPT), and a focus on inclusive, gender-respon-
sive AI applications. The program also promotes agile learning design,
enabling continuous updates aligned with the fast-paced evolution of AI
                                        technologies.

                      2 Use Case Description

                      21 Description

AI has the power to accelerate progress toward gender equality—but only if women and
feminist leaders actively shape its development and use. From tackling online gender-based
violence to ensuring that AI-powered tools are free from bias, feminist voices must be central
in AI innovation. The UN Women AI School is designed to bridge the AI knowledge gap and
empower participants to use AI for advocacy, campaign strategy, and decision-making.

Building on the lessons learnt in its first edition (2024), the 2025 UN Women AI School edition
will enable UN staff, policymakers and civil society to leverage AI for more effective advocacy,
program implementation, and organizational transformation. The Academy will have three
different tiers, customized to participants’ needs:

                      • Public Cohort: including women, young people and feminist leaders, the Public
Cohort will have a 3-month duration and an extensive programme aimed at providing
foundational knowledge on ethical and inclusive AI and to build participants’ capacity to
develop AI-powered solutions to urgent global challenges, including Climate Justice,
Tackling Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV), and Humanitarian
                           Action.
                      • Policy-Makers Intensive: targeted at policy and decision makers, this tier will equip
them with foundational knowledge and skills for regulatory design and public-service
                           deployment
                      • UN Staff Bootcamp: targeted at staff members of UN Women an other UN agencies, this
tier will provide participants with UN-specific examples, leveraging in-person labs to build
                           immediate, workstream-ready prototypes

In its pilot project in 2024, the UN Women AI School successfully trained more than 1,000
UN Women Staff, UNCTs, young leaders, and CSOs, achieving a 100% satisfaction rate. This
demonstrated the program’s effectiveness in delivering high-quality, gender-responsive AI
education at scale. The 2025 target is to reach 1,200 UN Staff and young leaders working on
AI for Gender Equality, further expanding its impact and reach.
