To address this issue, a leading South Korean construction company S, implemented safety
measures such as translating safety manuals and guidelines, placing safety posters in multiple
languages at worksites, and hiring on-site interpreters. While these measures helped somewhat,
they failed to ensure seamless real-time communication, and Company S concluded that to
prevent safety risks, a real-time translation app is needed.

However, translation apps such as Google translate and Papago (a Korean-developed app
widely used in South Korea’s construction industry) failed to accurately translate industry-
specific terms, leading to miscommunication and safety risks. To resolve this problem, Company
S partnered with Crowdworks AI to develop "Safety Talk," an AI-powered translation app
specialized for the construction and shipbuilding industries. Safety Talk supports 22 languages,
including English, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, and Arabic, ensuring seamless communication
among multinational workers. The translator model addresses language variation and dialects
through contextual fine-tuning and in-context learning. The model uses 100,000+ construction
and shipbuilding domain-specific terms, designed and built to meet the precise needs of Safety
Talk. Unlike the translation services currently available on the market, Crowdworks AI’s solution
accurately translates industry jargon, thereby preventing safety hazards.
