2 Use Case Description
21 Description
The AI-Powered GaP Repository transforms the existing Centre for Gender and Politics static 4.4-Productivity
resource database into an interactive conversational platform designed to empower young
women entering South Asian politics. Despite representing half the population, women
remain significantly underrepresented in regional political institutions - in India, only 14% of
parliamentarians are women, with just 14 under age 40 in a 543-member parliament.
Traditional political education approaches face critical limitations: written resources lack
personalization, existing mentorship programs have limited reach, and language barriers
persist across diverse linguistic communities. Young women aspiring to political careers
struggle to access relevant information, find suitable mentors, and navigate complex regional
political landscapes.
Our AI solution leverages Natural Language Processing and machine learning to provide
personalized guidance through four key functions: contextual political information delivery,
multi-lingual support for South Asian languages, AI-facilitated mentorship matching, and
interactive learning modules tailored to users' experience levels.
The AI-based approach offers significant advantages: 24/7 accessibility regardless of
location, personalized guidance based on individual contexts, scalable mentorship beyond
traditional program limitations, and multi-lingual support that democratizes access across
linguistic communities. The platform continuously learns from user interactions to improve
recommendations.
Implementation challenges include ensuring data privacy and security, addressing technical
limitations in areas with poor connectivity, and maintaining relevance in rapidly changing
political landscapes. Despite these challenges, the AI-powered GaP Repository represents a
transformative tool to increase women's political participation across South Asia, creating more
representative and effective democratic institutions.
Partners
• For the current version of our GaP Repository, we worked with JPMorgan&Chase as part
of their Force For Good program.
• For our upcoming AI-powered GaP Repository version, we are yet to finalize the partners.
Tentatively, we will be engaging with technology institutes (colleges, universities) and
nonprofits that work with women in politics.
22 Benefits of the Use Case
By breaking down informational barriers and providing guidance on navigating male-
dominated political structures; the platform helps overcome systemic barriers that have
historically excluded women from political power.
The platform’s multi-lingual capabilities ensure language is not a barrier to political education,
particularly benefiting women from marginalized communities who face intersectional
challenges.
