Finally, three respondents stated that they have WEEE collection points open to the public and
two pointed out that they have information dissemination strategies on their WEEE collection
points. The total number of WEEE collection points amounts to 60.
3 5 2 Results of the survey of WEEE managers
Seventy-five per cent of the managers who responded to the survey have more than 10 years
of experience in the industry. One of them refers to 30 years of experience, which leads to the
conclusion that the answers have a high degree of reliability.

All the managers stated that they participate in the disassembly and recovery of materials from
WEEE. The separation and collection activities are carried out by 75 per cent of the managers
surveyed, followed by the storage activity, with 65 per cent participation, and 60 per cent
participation in the re-use activity. Final disposal and export activities are performed by only
40 per cent of the managers surveyed. According to the results of this survey, it is concluded
that the information obtained on materials and fractions is reported by managers who mostly
perform WEEE collection and treatment activities.
One hundred per cent of respondents stated that they are aware of the environmental
implications of the inadequate final disposal of WEEE, as well as the components of WEEE that
require special treatment when discarded.
Regarding knowledge of institutional competencies and adequate WEEE management
mechanisms established at the national level, including knowledge of existing sanctions, more
than 80 per cent stated that they were aware.
