Summary: This Recommendation on the common weakness scoring system (CWSS) provides an open framework for communicating the characteristics and impacts of software weaknesses. The goal of CWSS is to enable ICT managers, software security vendors, application vendors and researchers to be able to reason and communicate about the relative importance of different weaknesses, whether in the architecture, design, code, or deployment.
