Summary: The Distributed Energy Network (DEN) represents an innovative convergence service that integrates energy system with next-generation networks, addressing challenges in distributed energy resources (DERs) management through edge computing in future networks. This Recommendation specifies a service model for the DEN based on edge computing in future networks to optimize DER integration and improve energy efficiency. It provides the service model for DEN, outlines requirements for edge-enabled operations, defines a capability framework for edge-based services, and address security considerations for distributed DEN services model. This Recommendation addresses a gap in the domain of DEN based on edge computing in future networks, aligning with the focus of SG13 Q1 on innovative converged application services in future networks, and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 7, 9 and 11.
