Summary:
|
The rapid convergence of broadcast, cable, IPTV, and OTT services has created a pressing need for standardized requirements to integrate Conditional Access Systems (CAS), Subscriber Management Systems (SMS), and Digital Rights Management (DRM). Operators face challenges in maintaining entitlement continuity, secure key management, and coordinated security operations across hybrid networks, which current ITU-T Recommendations do not fully address.
The proposed Technical Report TR.CASDRM-INT “Technical Feasibility for CAS/SMS–DRM Integration across Broadcast, Cable, IPTV, and OTT Systems” will analyse operational practices for CAS/SMS–DRM integration, including entitlement/license mapping, unified key and credential lifecycle management, telemetry and incident response coordination, interoperability profiles for hybrid STBs and OTT platforms, and migration guidance from cable/DTH to IPTV/OTT services.
By complementing but not duplicating existing standards, this work will provide operators, vendors, and regulators with practical guidance to achieve secure, interoperable, and seamless subscriber experiences in converged broadcast–IP environments.
