Summary:
|
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence–driven content generation technologies has led to increasingly sophisticated creation and distribution of synthetic or manipulated audiovisual material. These developments raise growing concerns about the authenticity, trustworthiness, and protection of media content delivered over integrated broadband cable networks, which play a critical role in public information dissemination.
The proposed Technical Report TR DCD “Deepfake content detection in video services over integrated broadband cable networks” will analyze technical mechanisms for deepfake content detection, including methods for content authenticity assurance and verification. It will also examine architectural considerations for integrating authenticity mechanisms into video service workflows, review relevant international initiatives from ITU, ISO/IEC, ETSI, and other standards bodies, and identify gaps and opportunities for further standardization.
By consolidating these studies, this work will provide ITU-T members and stakeholders with a comprehensive reference to support the development of reliable, interoperable, and trust-oriented solutions for audiovisual content protection.

|
This work should be done in coordination with Q6/21 that is also developing a technical paper on a very similar topic (ITU-T HSTP-MMAuth "Multimedia authentication framework, workflows and procedures")
