Summary:
|
This Recommendation addresses the growing demand for high-quality, untethered virtual reality (VR) experiences in large, multi-user physical spaces. It specifies a comprehensive framework and a set of technical requirements for wireless streaming systems tailored for large-scale virtual reality (LVR). The general requirements are defined to ensure an immersive experience, covering ultra-low motion-to-photon latency, high bandwidth, seamless roaming for mobile users, and robust multi-user concurrency. The Recommendation also introduces the reference framework and specifies the functional requirements for its core components: the stream sender, stream receiver, wireless access function, and network management function module. The goal is to ensure interoperability, foster a standardized ecosystem, and guarantee a consistent quality of experience for end-users.
