Summary:
|
Escalators are essential components of public infrastructure, widely installed in locations such as subway stations, airports, and large shopping malls to ensure the smooth and efficient movement of people. Remote monitoring of escalators is essential for improving safety and minimizing operational costs by providing real-time status updates and enabling early detection of potential faults, which supports proactive maintenance and accident prevention. Escalator accidents are complex, unpredictable, and often caused by a combination of user behavior, mechanical failure, and environmental factors. Escalator monitoring methods are passive and reactive, revealing the need for intelligent, real-time, data-driven systems for effective accident prevention. Advancements in AI offer promising potential to enhance escalator monitoring by predictive analysis, and intelligent risk detection based on sensor and behavioral data. However, the lack of domain-specific datasets and adapted models hinders the development of effective AI-based systems, revealing the need for targeted data collection and modeling efforts.
This draft Recommendation specifies requirements and functional architecture for intelligent remote escalator monitoring system, along with data model for predictive analysis and intelligent risk detection.
