Summary:
|
Equitable access to advanced digital education is essential for bridging the educational divide. Emerging technologies such as IoT, metaverse, AR and VR, are significantly transforming Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM) by enabling immersive, experiential and engaging educational environments.
However, to fully realize the benefits of these innovations, there is an urgent need for standardization particularly in the development of metaverse enabled educational systems. Without such standards the potential of IoT, AR/VR and metaverse platforms to support inclusive education may remain unrealized.
Metaverse-based education offers the potential to transcend geographical barriers by delivering high-quality, learner-centric content, immersive and interactive learning experiences. Yet in the absence of common standards, there is a significant risk of fragmented systems, lack of interoperability, privacy and security issues and exclusion of non-dominant languages.
This proposed architectural framework aims to define the functional requirements for IoT enabled multilingual and immersive education systems. It will also guide the creation and delivery of multilingual educational content in metaverse environments fostering greater accessibility and ensuring alignment with diverse linguistic and learner-centric needs.
