Summary: This draft Recommendation provides a clear architecture for designing health monitoring systems within health monitoring ecosystems. It presents a multi-layered design approach, where each layer sensing, access control, metadata, communication and application fulfils a specific role. This involves real-time bio-signal acquisition, metadata contextualization and system interoperability, ensuring security. The modular architecture allows biosensor solutions to scale effectively while maintaining regulatory compliance and transparency. Additionally, the draft Recommendation highlights the importance of seamless data integration from biosensors into digital health infrastructures. This includes secure transmission methods, contextual metadata tagging, consent-based access control and user-friendly interfaces for integration with electronic health records (EHRs) and AI-enabled healthcare platforms. The capabilities described in this Recommendation aim to support reliable and trustworthy biosensor operations across clinical, wellness and ambient care settings.
