Recommendation ITU-T G.979 is concerned with the characteristics of monitoring systems for optical fibre submarine cable systems. It covers the aspects relating to functional architecture, the characteristics of monitoring equipment and the parameters for monitoring.
The second edition of the Recommendation includes some modifications to apply monitoring systems to repeaterless systems as well as repeatered systems.
This third edition of the Recommendation includes generic monitoring requirements for sensing functionalities.Recommendation ITU-T G.979 is concerned with the characteristics of monitoring systems for optical fibre submarine cable systems. It covers the aspects relating to functional architecture, the characteristics of monitoring equipment and the parameters for monitoring.
This revision will address the following items:
Include new generic monitoring function requirements for optical fibre submarine cable based sensing systems considering the discussion for new Recommendations G.9730.1 and G.9730.2.
