Summary:
|
This Recommendation describes typical rating scales encountered in quality assessment. There exists a number of scales commonly used in standardized subjective quality assessment methods, such as ITU-T Rec. P.800 and P.910 that uses 5-point ACR and DCR discrete scales, or ITU-T Rec. P.910 Annex B that provides additional evaluative scales with 9-grade discrete and 11-grade continuous scale with 5 labels, or quasi-continuous scales with 2 labels. These additional scales aim to improve specific aspects of the 5-point discrete scale by providing additional anchor points, extending the scale terminology, or offering a larger number of possible ratings.
The comparative studies detailed in this Recommendation aim to clarify the impact of different scales to the subjective test results, guiding experimenters in their choice of rating scales.
