Summary: This recommendation aims at maximizing the availability of data collected on climate change for adaptation plans and related actions by enhancing synergies between ICT and the meteorological sector. It will identify the present challenges and future needs of the meteorological sector to combat climate change and support sustainable development. These goals will require an increased number of highly dependable meteorological base sensing stations. The Recommendation will gather the characteristics of the sensors needed and define possible integration within the ICT sites and their facilities. It will also include examples of ICT-based, indirect environmental measurements. This comes in the framework of exploring the potential of ICTs in thematic sectors as per the umbrella recommendation ITU-T L.1500
