Summary: This Recommendation describes the protocol and related behaviors of peers for providing multimedia streaming services over managed P2P architecture that is defined in [ITU-T X.609]. This describes the types of peer based on its roles, the types of relationship among peers, and information flows for describing their behaviors. ITU-T Q.9/11 has developed ITU-T X.609, functional architecture for managed P2P communications, and other related protocols have been developing now, which are X.mp2p-pamp (peer activity management protocol), X.mp2p-orcp (overlay resource control protocol), and X.mp2p-mssr (signalling requirements for multimedia streaming services). In addition to these MP2P protocols, peer protocol is required to exchange streaming data among peers for multimedia streaming services. The peer protocol will be developed based on ITU-T X.609 and X.mp2p-mssr. This Recommendation describes peer protocol elements, protocol messages and its parameters, and related behaviours of peers for providing multimedia streaming services over managed P2P architecture.
