ITU posts are grouped into two broad categories - Professional and Higher, and General Services
Professional and Higher categories (Grades P1 to P5, and D1 to D2): Applicants are normally required to have an advanced university degree and experience at national and/or international level in the field of telecommunication, radiocommunication, ICT, business administration, finance and accounts, law and development issues. The qualifications required for each level of this category is summarized in the table below "Qualification requirements fro positions at Professional and higher categories":
General Services category (Grades G.1 to G.7): Candidates are required to have graduated from secondary school with a diploma or a technical/commercial school with a secretarial/business/commercial/technical diploma. They should have the necessary language and good computer skills. In addition high levels of adaptability and communication skills are desirable. Such openings are filled by recruiting in the area of the duty station. Candidates normally reside in the area in which the office is located. the qualifications required for each level of this category is summarized in the table below "Qualification requirements fro positions at General Service level":
