Accessibility to ICTs: Achieving Equitable Communications for Everyone
15 per cent of the world’s population lives with a disability. This represents about 1 billion people globally. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), such as mobile phones, satellites or the Internet, are a unique infrastructure that expand access to key  public services, promoting digital inclusion. Throughout the world, persons living with disabilities are already benefitting from the advantages of ICT-enabled applications.

Artificial Intelligence

AI is expected to play a particularly important role in accelerating progress towards each one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Within its mandate, ITU provides a neutral platform for all stakeholders to build a common understanding of the capabilities of AI technologies, facilitating trusted, safe and inclusive development of AI technologies, and equitable access to their benefits.  ​

DFS Digital financial inclusion and digital currency

Some 1.4 billion people remain without access to financial services. Digital financial inclusion is a critical enabler for poverty reduction and inclusive growth. ITU offers platforms to study cybersecurity challenges for digital finance, the quality of service provided by mobile networks for digital finance, and innovations and regulatory challenges brought about by fintech, digital currencies, blockchain, and artificial intelligence.
