Public Consultation on ITU’s Strategic Plan for 2016-2019

Dear friends and colleagues,
I would like to invite you to further contribute to the ongoing discussions on ITU´s strategy and priorities for the coming years.

As many of you are already aware, the International Telecommunication Union is currently developing its Strategic Plan for 2016-2019. And we want the views and inputs from all stakeholders to be considered and discussed because we want to ensure that our activities deliver the maximum value to everyone.

ITU – with our commitment to connecting the world – continues to help bring everyone online, enabling everybody to access the benefits of ICTs. All three sectors of ITU are working together to make a difference – through spectrum allocation and satellite coordination; through new standards; through policy development; and through the delivery of technical assistance to countries.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who already participated in the open consultation on the future ITU Strategy which we conducted back in August this year.

I want to thank you for your inputs and contributions that significantly assisted us in preparing the Secretariat’s input to the work of the Council Working Group for the Elaboration of the Draft Strategic Plan of the Union for 2016-2019.

This Council Working Group met in Geneva on 13th and 14th November, and discussed the basis for the strategy of our organization for the coming years. We are now engaging in a public consultation on the outcomes of this meeting to look at the proposed strategic framework for ITU as well as to the structure and glossary of the draft Strategic Plan.

I want to express my full support to this initiative of the Council Working Group and to highlight the importance of this engagement to develop the next 4-year strategy for ITU.

Tell us what you think about the strategy and priorities of ITU in the future. Your opinion counts, so please share your views via this online platform or submit your written contributions by email to strategic-planning@itu.int .

Thank you very much. We look forward to hearing from you.

Dr Hamadoun I. Touré
ITU Secretary-General
