There is a growing technology gap for anyone reliant on alternative access systems. At the same time emerging technical innovations and practices can be leveraged to better support diversity and individuals who cannot use mass produced designs. We describe a growing cluster of initiatives that are addressing this technology gap by matching demand at the margins with supply at the margins, pooling resources and supporting the design and development of accessible products, thereby creating more inclusive economies. A specific example in Ontario is described.
