This special session was organized by the Joint Coordination Activity on Internet of Things (JCA-IoT). In the complex international standardization landscape, which is market driven, coordination and harmonization is a must. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) established in 2001 the World Standards Cooperation (WSC). IEC, ISO and ITU believe that international standards are an instrument enabling the development of a harmonized, stable and globally recognized framework for the dissemination and use of technologies, best practices and agreements, which support the overall growth of the Information Society. In this session, the three organizations as well as the European Commission present their views about the “Internet of Things” standardization. See also the related newslog.
