Economist with a MA in Agricultural Economics from the Pennsylvania State University, USA and Bachelor in Social Sciences with a major in Economy from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
She currently works as the General Manager of Pagos Digitales Peruanos (Peruvian Digital Payments). She is also President of the Board of Administration of Backus Foundation, member of the board of SEPIA (Permanent Seminar on Agrarian Research), of the board of Colegios Peruanos – Innova Schools, of the International Advisory Council of RIMISP (Latin American Center for Rural Development), of the Executive Committee CGAP (the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) and participant in the Advisory Committee for Estimating Poverty and Other Indicators of the Country from INEI (Peruvian National Institute of Statistics).
Former Minister of Development and Social Inclusion in Peru (2011-2013). Former General Director of the Institute for Peruvian Studies (IEP). Former Manager of the Electronic Money Project of CEFI of ASBANC (Center of Financial Studies of the Association of Banks of Peru), member of the Directive Council of the Peruvian Society for Environmental Rights (SPDA) and of the Advisory Council of Rural Development, ST- CIAS of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Peru. She has also been President of CONDESAN (Consortium for the Development of the Andean Ecoregion) and of SEPIA.
She specializes in social policies, rural poverty, financial inclusion and rural development. She has been a faculty member of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and of the Universidad del Pacífico. She is currently columnist for the journal Perú 21.
