Abdul is an applied economist with more than ten (10) years of practice in developing ICT Competition and Economic regulation regimes in Africa.
Presently, Abdul is a Tariff and Interconnection Specialist with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), the communications regulator in Uganda providing technical leadership in the Commission’s Economic Regulation and Policy practice.
He serves on a joint Regulator - Central Bank (UCC - BOU) Task force to oversee MFS regulation covering areas like consumer protection, interoperability, competition and licensing among others.
Abdul is also a member of the FG DFS TIC with two papers on “Emergent DFS Competition Concerns in African Markets” and “A Telecom Regulator’s Leverage in Promoting Mobile Money Competition”.
He is also a Co – Rapporteur of the ITU SG 3 RG on Mobile Financial Services.
