Michael Mayer has been an active contributor to ITU-T and COAST-SYNC standards since 1996 in the areas of Synchronization, OTN, SDH and ASON control plane. He is currently the editor of several ITU-T Recommendations related to Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE1588 for telecom applications. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University (Kingston, Canada) and began his career at Bell-Northern Research/Nortel Networks where he was involved with systems design and standardization of Nortel optical network products. Most recently he has been consulting in the area of synchronization and standards.
