1) Registration:


Pre-registration
will be carried out exclusively online through the Focal Points designated by each administration and entity entitled to participate. Online registration will open on Monday, 10 October 2016 at the following website: http://www.itu.int/net3/ITU-D/meetings/registration/.
On-site registration will begin on Tuesday, 8 November 2016 at 15h30 and will take place in Nanshan Golden Eagle Hotel in Chongqing. Pre-registered delegates will only need to bring their letter of confirmation and a photo ID. Delegates who do not pre-register will also require a letter of accreditation from the Designated Focal Point of their entity to register onsite.

Note: Check-in and check-out is at 12:00 noon.

All the participants will be staying at Golden Eagle Holiday Hotel during the expert meeting and workshop. It is necessary for the participants to provide information to the local organizers with their names and arrival/departure dates through when pre-registering online. If this information is not available during pre-registration, please send an e-mail to Mr Jin Qiang, CAICT (E-mail: jinqiang@caict.ac.cn (cc: chenjinqiao@caict.ac.cn and devsg@itu.int)).

4) Passport and visa

Participants must have a valid passport or travel document with a minimum validity of six months beyond the period of stay. Each participant needs to check the visa requirements before entering the country. 
Please check the visa formalities with the nearest Chinese Embassy.
Visa support
 letter can be issued on request.
To request a visa support letter, please fill in this form ​​and send the form together with a copy of your passport to Mr Jin Qiang, CAICT for the visa support letter (E-mail: jinqiang@caict.ac.cn

5) Health insurance

The hosts advise all participants to have medical and travel insurance covering the whole period of the meetings and overseas travel. Neither ITU nor CAICT will be able to meet any expenses relating to injury, accident or medical treatment of the participant during their stay in China.

6) Transportation

All participants will have two options for the transportation from the airport to the hotel. The 
Golden Eagle Holiday Hotel is located about 40 min away by car from the airport without traffic jams.

  1. The local organizer will assist in arranging airport pick-up service once the participant has provided arrival/departure information when pre-registering online. 
  2. The participants may also take a taxi from the airport to the hotel on their own, the taxi fee is about 70 RMB (11 USD) (without traffic jams).
Daily shuttle service will be made available for the participants staying in Golden Eagle Holiday Hotel to the meeting venue and back, free of charge from 9 to ​11 November 2016.   

7) Currency

The currency unit in China is Chinese yuan (¥) (1,00 USD  = 6,58143 CNY) Businesses accept most major credit cards. Only Chinese Yuan (CNY) is accepted at stores and restaurants. Major foreign currencies may be exchanged to CNY at the foreign exchange bank.

8) Information about Chongqing

Situated on the banks of both Yangtze River and Jialingjiang River, Chongqing is a major city in Southwest China, and administratively it is one of China's four direct-controlled municipalities (the other three are Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin), and the only such municipality in inland China. Chongqing's population as of 2015 is just over 30 million with an urban population of 18.38 million.
Chongqing has a significant history and culture and serves as the economic centre of the upstream Yangtze basin. It is a major manufacturing centre and transportation hub. Hot Pot is Chongqing's most famous local culinary specialty.

8) Climate and weather in China

Chongqing has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate, and for most of the year experiences very humid conditions. Known as one of the "Three Furnaces" of the Yangtze River, along with Wuhan and Nanjing, its summers are long and among the hottest and most humid in China, with highs of 14 to 20 °C in November in the urban area. Winters are short and somewhat mild, but damp and overcast.

9) Language

Mandarin is the official language but English is also used by a limited part of the population.​

10) Electricity

Electricity voltage is 220 Volts AC 50Hz with plug configuration similar to some Asian countries (Type D&J).

Communication services in China include fixed line telephony, (mobile broadband) Internet and GSM mobile telephone services.

13) Banks and currency

The unit of currency is Chinese RMB which comes in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100. Please use authorised banks to convert currency. They will issue a certificate of exchange which is required at the time of re-conversion of any unused currency. The currency may be exchanged at the airport on arrival. Foreign Exchange Rate is approximately RMB 6.56 to US$ 1 (as of May 2016). Most bank ATMs honour Visa and Master cards. Most hotels, shops & other establishments accept all major international credit cards.  ​
