Online training on Public Procurement of accessible ICT products and services

The online training on "Public Procurement of accessible ICT products and services" was conducted from 12 October to 27 November 2015. This training was organized by the International Telecommunication Union in the framework of the Regional Initiative for Europe on Ensuring access to telecommunications/ICTs, in particular for persons with disabilities, adopted by the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2014 (WTDC-14). The training was delivered in English through the ITU Academy Platform.

This eLearning training aimed to provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to specify accessibility for persons with disabilities in the public procurement of information and communication technology (ICT) products and services, enable learners to address accessibility during all stages of the public procurement process, and to provide learners with a solid understanding of the relevant international standards for accessible ICT.

Detailed information on this training was described in the training outline available on the ITU Academy Portal.

This training was targeted at managers, ICT staff and employees from government organisations including central procurement agencies, ICT companies, civil society bodies representing persons with disabilities and academia, who were interested in understanding the implementation and regulation of public procurement of accessible ICTs  including international standards. Other institutions and individuals that are dedicated to building their capacity related to accessible ICTs were also welcome to participate.
