Partnership Opportunities

The ITU-D, the Development Sector of the ITU, assists Member States in reaching their development objectives. ICTs represent an extraordinary opportunity to really change the world, e.g. to change the way we live, learn, work, and entertain ourselves. ICTs are the building blocks supporting socio-economic development.
However, this potential can only be fully exploited through partnerships and cooperation.Public-private partnerships are at the centre of our efforts to foster development.
Don't miss this opportunity to help the world do better. By joining the ITU-D partnerships and initiatives, you can do well while doing good.
Make a difference! Become an ITU-D partner!

In a context of ever increasing growth of malicious cyberactivities, ITU is launching the “Enhancing Cybersecurity in Least Developed Countries” project aiming at ensuring that LDCs can maximize the socio-economic benefits of access to ICTs in a cybersecure environment.

The project aims at supporting LDCs in strengthening their cybersecurity capabilities to better respond to cyberthreats to ensure enhanced protection of their national infrastructure, including the critical information infrastructure, thereby making the Internet safer and protecting Internet users, to serve national priorities and maximize socio-economic benefits in line with the objectives of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The m-Powering Development initiative aims to extend the benefits of mobile technology to all strata of society, in order to build a truly inclusive information society, with special focus on remote rural and underserved areas.

It is expected that this initiative will add to GDP growth and create employment opportunities through reliable mobile teleconnectivity, provision of affordable services and use of latest technology.
Under m-Powering development, the provision of reliable mobile teleconnectivity will help open new models of development. Improved access to and use of mobile technologies may also boost positive social and economic impact in the areas of  m-education, m-health, m-government, m-banking and m-sport.
This initiative envisages pooling the strengths of governments, international organizations, private sector and the civil society to create a dynamic partnership for the purpose of increasing reliable mobile connectivity.

The “Smart Sustainable Development Model” initiative aims to create actions necessary to deploy the crucial telecommunications infrastructure that contribute to giving rapid assistance in case of natural disasters, and could also be used as a working tool to foster economic and social development, providing community telecommunication services where people can access education, health or best practices in any particular field.
