The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Inter American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL) will jointly be organizing a workshop on the use of Telecommunications in Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.
The event will focus on the role of information and Communication Technologies before, during, and after disasters strike as outlined in the attached programme. Speakers will be drawn from both ITU Member States and ITU Sector Members from the Americas Region. Participation will also be open to related Government Ministries, Telecommunication Regulatory Authorities, ITU Sector Members, Associates and Academia, and Non-Governmental Organizations. Key topics on disaster risk reduction, climate change, disaster preparedness, disaster response and recovery will be discussed.
