DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW PLATFORM Dear 2009 ITU Youth Forum Alumni,
We trust you enjoyed the 2009 ITU World TELECOM Youth Forum and have made it safely home. We certainly enjoyed meeting all of you.
As discussed during the 2009 Youth Forum workshops on Web 2.0 and Gaming, ITU has created a dedicated network for all Youth Forum alumni at http://www.itu.int/ITU-D/youth/YLinICTs/default_group.asp, entitled “Young Leaders in ICTs”. This network, designed to attract Youth Forum Alumni since the first Youth Forum in 2001, provides a platform to enable users to share their experience, knowledge and views on ICTs and for ITU to keep Alumni informed about ITU activities. The Young Leaders in ICTS platform, the only official ITU Alumni network, currently includes forums, discussion boards, online courses and more.
To join the network, please login and follow the instructions at: http://www.itu.int/ITU-D/youth/YLinICTs/howto.pdf
We now plan to further enrich the platform to include some of the exciting Web 2.0 content you developed during the 2009 Youth Forum (currently available at http://ituyouth.blogspot.com/). We are actively seeking volunteers with the necessary web development skills who can help create a more interactive platform that also includes content from the current platform. Interested alumni are requested to contact ITU to express their interest and send a CV highlighting their web development skills to youth@itu.int copy to itu@youthfellows.gmail.com
Once we launch the new platform, we will contact you by email so that you can be our eyes and ears on the ground, tracking exciting ICT development initiatives in your home countries through blogging, posting images and videos and using other Web 2.0 tools. The new Alumni platform will also help you track progress in implementation of the 2009 Youth Forum Declaration, as well as supporting each other in your future careers and studies in the field of ICTs. In the meanwhile, please feel free to logon to the Young Leaders in ICT network and use the forums, discussion boards and online courses.
We look forward to staying in touch!
