J.302: System Specifications of Augmented Reality Smart Television Service
Augmented Reality Smart Television (ARSTV) is TV broadcasting using AR technology to blend augmented content (2D/3D graphic object) with broadcasting content in real-time on receiving terminals. The augmented content overlaid in the augmentation region is fixed statically or moves along the trajectory as if AR-based location application shows path information on the real location from a smart-phone's camera. ARSTV provides that TV viewers can watch the mixed broadcasting contents whenever they want only the service.
The [draft new] recommendation J.arstv-req "Requirements of Augmented Reality Smart Television System" is progressing under the responsibility of Q.10/9 and to be AAP "Consent" at the SG9 meeting which will be held on September 2014. The latest version [draft new] J.arstv-req is TD 389 (GEN/9).
To realise the ARSTV services, it is needed to define specifications for synchronized representation between broadcasting programme and augmented content, metadata, and signalling protocol according to functional requirements defined in [draft new] J.arstv-req.
The proposed new Recommendation specifies scheme and description including:
Synchronization scheme for ARSTV
Metadata for ARSTV
Signalling protocol for ARSTV
We believe this new work will enable to provide advanced services in the cable industry.
