Driver distraction detection is an important component of vehicle safety assistance systems. It serves to mitigate safety risks arising from driver distraction and thereby significantly reduce the incidence of major accidents. Consequently, the realization of mature driver distraction detection applications has drawn significant attention. The object of this recommendation is to establish a new standard entitled "Framework, requirements and evaluation methods for driver distraction detection system". By integrating advanced in-vehicle sensing technologies and artificial intelligence-based methodologies, this recommendation addresses existing gaps. It defines a system framework for driver distraction detection, specifies technical requirements, establishes evaluation methodologies, and documents representative use cases, thereby enhancing system compatibility and accuracy. Primary stakeholders comprise intelligent cockpit system developers.
