As digital broadcasting services have been deployed rapidly, service providers have been considering more effective services accommodating diverse needs of users, such as further efficiency of transmission resources, use of latest coding technologies, interoperability with various IP-based networks, metadata and auxiliary services. The objective of this Recommendation is to describe the requirements of IP-based smart digital audio services. For providing IP-based smart digital audio services using broadband and broadcasting networks, there are some requirements to be considered: transmission and coding efficiency, bit rates, IP-based transport packaging for interoperability. This Recommendation is Part 1 of a multi-part deliverable composed of 3 parts. Part 1 describes the requirements for IP-based smart digital audio services.
