Coastal cities and areas are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, including flooding, rising sea level, storm surge, precipitation, and more. The frequency and intensity of these impacts continue to deepen, as a result of climate change. It is, therefore, imperative that coastal cities and areas are proactively taking climate adaptation actions to minimize these impacts. Information and Communication Technologies, as well as digital transformation, are providing innovative solutions for accelerating climate adaptation. The objective of this Recommendation is to support coastal cities and areas to adopt these technologies and enhance climate resilience.
