UNGIS Statement to Global Digital Compact
Stakeholders Session, 22 August
UNGIS appreciates the co-facilitators' efforts to ensure an inclusive process and for the revised draft of the Global Digital Compact (GDC), and reaffirms its commitment and to advancing the Global Digital Compact’s goals and supporting the broader UN digital cooperation agenda.
UNGIS plays a crucial role in enhancing UN policy coherence and coordination in the digital domain, aligning our efforts with internationally agreed development goals and WSIS outcomes. In this context, as we prepare for the WSIS+20 review, we have a valuable opportunity to assess our progress and explore how the WSIS can adapt to new digital challenges. This review will also allow us to consider how the WSIS, the Global Digital Compact, and the Summit of the Future can synergize to create a cohesive and effective digital governance framework.
