Education and Urban Planning

a) Education 

- a class of Le Regent College pupils will be on Stage

- Led by a Teacher, the class will have a geography lesson via TeachVR system.

Virtual reality is the next big thing for education. It engages students, enriches subjects and brings the wonders of the world into the classroom. Currently, the potential of virtual reality is limited by the (technical) possibilities. TeachVR solves this problem with a great, user-friendly solution for education.

Users can create virtual reality lessons and present them to the whole class. The lessons are made up of 360-degree photo’s which users can upload or find using Google Street View. The lesson can be presented to smartphones using our mobile application and a simple Cardboard VR viewer.

For the WSIS event we will show just how fun and easy TeachVR is. In a live setting students and teacher will create and present a VR lesson. The students will give input on which city/place they want to visit. The Teacher then quickly makes a presentation and then takes the students on a virtual field trip.

b) Architecture and Urban Planning

How can we use VR to facilitate Urban Planning? This session will be facilitated by IAOVR.

The project, The Nilouphar Residence, was to be built by Spring 2017. It would have been one of the first constructions to benefit from new construction rules aimed at densifying a neighborhood of the villa area of the Collonge-Bellerive district in Geneva. Neighbors concerned about the impact of the size that this large house could have had a recourse that suspended work and induced a blockage that can last up to a year and a half. To convince the neighborhood, the architects presented cardboard models at different scales with 3D images. These visualization tools specific to the profession, often poorly adapted to the public, make it difficult to project in space. The immersive VR is currently the only way that a philistine can sneak into the head of an architect or urban planner. The understanding and vision of future spatial materiality is immediate when looking through a virtual reality helmet. We are convinced that it will henceforth be essential for public administrations concerned with regional planning as well as for real estate development companies and finally for the neighbors with any new construction.
